Event Description

Course Description: 

Have you just completed the pre-convocation module 1 this year? Have you taken FDM modules before and are looking to learn more advanced FDM theories? Would you like to be in a course with others who are regularly working in the FDM?

Then please join us for this special advanced course. If you are comfortable thinking in the FDM model, then this course is for you. This will be 8 hours of FDM concepts that go beyond what is taught in the three separate modules. Topics to include pelvic pain in the FDM, Flexion Distraction table use in the FDM, TMJ pain, Cases in Meralgia Peresthetica, FDM use in the vertically challenged provider, FDM Cranial techniques, Abdominal pain from the FDM perspective, Advanced Triggerband techniques, FDM in acute sports injury, Plantar pain in the FDM, and many more exciting concepts of FDM used at a higher level in daily practice. 

 

Course Director(s)

Course Director: Todd A. Capistrant, DO, MHA

Dr. Todd Capistrant has been a physician with Tanana Valley Clinic since 2006. He has held many positions with the clinic but his practice is now full time OMM. Dr. Capistrant began his education at the University of Minnesota where he received a B.S. in Biology. He then went on to complete his medical degree as Doctor of Osteopathy at Des Moines University in Iowa. After completing his medical degree, he completed his Residency in Family Medicine at the University of Minnesota-Bethesda Family Practice. In addition to his medical education, Dr. Capistrant received a Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration from Des Moines University in Iowa.  He specializes in Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine and is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine. He is a member of the American Academy of Family Practice, Northwest Osteopathic Medical Foundation, American Osteopathic Association, American Fascial Distortion Association, American Academy of Osteopathy and the Alaska Osteopathic Medical Society.  Professionally, his medical interests include Osteopathic Manipulation, working with athletes to maximize performance, dance medicine, OMM for pregnant women, and the Fascial Distortion Model of which he is one of three physicians in the U.S. certified to teach seminars on the model, which allows for effective manipulative treatment for most musculoskeletal injuries including pulled muscles, fractures and frozen shoulders.

If your new membership application has not been approved, you will be charged the nonmember rate for Pre-Convocation. It may take a full business day for applications to be approved.

AAO is following the guidance of the CDC for the AAO & AOASM Convocation in March of 2022, in Orlando, Florida. We will provide hand sanitizer throughout the area of the hotel that we are using, and the wearing of masks will be encouraged. Florida is not enforcing a mask mandate at this time. More determinations may come at the time of the event based on the impact of the situation.
