José S. Figueroa, DO, FAOCPMR, FAAPMR, is board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) (Diplomate AOBPM&R) and Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine / Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine. He joined Des Moines University in 2002 as a clinician in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and an Assistant Professor in the Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine (OMM) Department. Dr. Figueroa earned a bachelor’s degree from Iowa State University in Ames, and a doctor of osteopathic medicine degree with an OMM Fellowship from the now Des Moines University. He completed his residency training and a Specialty Faculty Development Fellowship at Michigan State University. He has served as a physician in the US Army as a PM&R Specialist and Assistant Chief of the Physical Medicine Service while attaining the rank of Major at Madigan Army Medical Center in Fort Lewis, Washington. Dr. Figueroa is a member of the American Osteopathic College of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, the American Osteopathic Association, the American Academy of Osteopathy, and the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
